Dear Students, today is our First Online English Shorthand
Lecture of and in this Lecture, we will learn the basics of English Shorthand.
The first question which arises in the mind of a new student is:
What is Shorthand?
Shorthand is a method of rapid handwriting using symbols to
represent letters, words, and phrases. Shorthand is like writing English, but it
is quicker. English has some set of signs (alphabets) to record the words.
Shorthand also has some set of geometrical signs known as consonant/strokes.
Like English, the shorthand signs also can be read back later or put them back
in longhand words.
What are the consonants/strokes?
The Consonants/strokes are a set of symbols through the help of
which we will learn English Shorthand.
The total numbers of Consonants/Strokes are 26. We have divided these
consonants/strokes into three sets.
•
1st Set: 8 Consonants/strokes
•
2nd Set: 8 Consonants/strokes
•
3rd Set: 10 Consonants
